Creator or Worker?

The thought of starting your own small business can be a little scary, if not downright intimidating.  Still, there are many great reasons for you to give it a go. It is “easier” than it ever has been to start and run a business. Whether you are bootstrapping your business or you have venture capital, it is now arguably riskier to depend on your job. If the past few years have taught us anything, it is that what we thought was secure isn’t really secure and what we thought was right is left.
At CEO Blog Nation, we released the “I am CEO” Battlecry for entrepreneurs and business owners and released the first volume of ourfree eBook called the “I am CEO Handbook: Volume 1″ that provide resources and information for entrepreneurs, startups and business owners to celebrate entrepreneurship and the impact that it has on the world. Entrepreneurs are vital and transform our world that we live whether it be the iPhone, Amazon.com or even your local hair stylist. There’s always the age old chicken and the egg question about whether entrepreneurs are born or made, but the bottom line is that entrepreneurs are those who develop innovation after innovation to improve our world. The ability to take “nothing” and build it into a business that helps employ thousands and generate millions in revenue should be celebrated and that’s what we’re doing.
Entrepreneurship is alive and well and here are 16 reasons why you should consider taking the plunge too.
1.     Most industries and businesses are changing.  Now is a great time to find opportunities in the chaos and destruction of changing industries. Provide a product or service that will enable you to earn a living despite while others struggle.
2.     To pursue your passion.  Part of the goal in starting your own business is to actually make a living doing what you love.
3.     You are able to reinvent the world.  In some ways, you may be redefining your personal perspective on “going to work.”  In other ways, you may be able to help improve the lives of those who purchase your goods or services.
4.     You will be your own boss (kind of).  You may not see eye to eye with your boss, but you can’t fire him or her. As an entrepreneur you will work for your clients, but you have the ability to replace and fire difficult clients. Owning your own business will enable you to experience being in control of your own workday.
5.     There is no ceiling on your professional potential.  When you own your own business, your creativity and skill growth can evolve and be used as you need them to for the success of your company.
6.     There is no cap on your earning potential.  You will be able to make changes and innovate as the market demands.  You will not have to ask for the approval of your “boss” in order to make the changes needed to ensure sales.
7.     You are the captain of the ship.  All of the responsibility falls upon your shoulders, but with that you have the freedom to steer your small business in whichever direction you see fit. You can even start your business part-time.
8.     You enjoy having multiple roles in business.  If you excel at multitasking, then being an entrepreneur is definitely a way to use those skills for the benefit of your own business.
9.     You have the opportunity to do meaningful work.  As your own boss, you will have a chance to do work that means something to you, and perhaps to those who benefit from your goods or services.
10.  You see a business opportunity.  Owning your own business allows you to stop wishing for a product or service to better suit your needs, and start providing one for you and others.
11.  Security. Business is changing. Fast. No business has the same security level as it did before the economic downturn.  Don’t let the usual fear of lack of security hold you back as it may have done in more economically secure times.
12.  You can start part-time. Some of the most successful entrepreneurs juggled multiple positions and opportunities before they took the plunge.
13.  You may want to prove to yourself that you could do it.  Being a small business owner is not an easy task, but succeeding at it may help you do what you always hoped you could.
14.  It is the only way to achieve your dream.  If you have certain aspirations in life, sometimes the only way to reach them is to be an entrepreneur.
15.  You were laid off from your job.  From your job you might have skills and an expertise that you can leverage into a business venture. If you don’t have a job, but still have a mortgage, student loans or credit card bills, you will have to start a business.
16.  You are a risk taker.  There is a certain amount of risk in owning a business, but if you can handle taking risks and the pressure it takes to run a business than you should take the leap.
17.  Bonus Reason: If you’ve ever torn your Achilles or had any other injuries, you’ll have some extra time on your hands.

Running a business is not easy and it takes a lot of time, dedication and energy, but so do a lot of jobs. Do your research and homework and determine if it is truly something that you are able and willing to invest in. Times are changing and so much business and our minds. Consider taking the plunge and live the dream.

Commendation for Success Paradigms 101

Recommendation and Commentary

After having read Success Paradigm 101, I realized that its a book which articulates success in an unprecedented way. It really is a wealth and success manuscript that has been long awaited. A must read for an individual who has a hunger and eagerness to understand success besides the one-dimensional measure in terms of monetary value. It’s a book that shows one what God's intention was for humankind. Not only does it give encouragement to the African Continent but also this is a read that can be applied universally to achieve multi- dimensional success. It will definitely change both nations and individuals' mindsets that success is more than what the world has defined.

Success Paradigms 101 reveals one's inner strength. It has the power to unleash the dreams one had to new heights. It has awakened my confidence that EVEN I CAN SUCCEED!
As a reader it has brought back in me that zest and willingness to work twice as hard to reach my expected end. In this book there is confirmation that there is nothing wrong with me being successful in every sphere of my life because it has been God's desire for me all along!

Success Paradigms 101 Rave review

Success Paradigms 101: Even You Can Succeed!
Recommendation and Commentary

This is a masterpiece work from a gifted teacher, a mightily blessed speaker and a spirit filled minister of the Word of God. The book is clearly purposeful to propel a willing heart into another dimension of life just as God intended it. (Genesis 1 v 22) In Africa (the cradle of human kind) the socio-economic political milieu is an antithesis and a stark contradiction to God’s original plan for mankind. In a Psalmist fashion, Pastor Tich writes with poetic eloquence basing success principles Africans need to activate on the untarnished word of God. (Hebrews 4 v 12) Success Paradigms 101 is a practical epistle to a heart as young as a child’s, that which is willing not with adult cynicism to read between the lines but to diligently apply the success principles with a keen intention to see the results.

(II Chronicles 20 v 20) The book’s didactics will turn that heart into one that is both vision and principle driven, a heart raring to break out of a plethora of historical and contemporary limitations (slavery, colonialism, racism, tribalism, mediocrity, pessimism, identity crisis, disunity, wars, hunger, corruption, diseases, and poverty e.t.c.) that confine the trailblazing mind and the body of an African. (Proverbs 29 v 18) This book feeds that heart into pumping some life into the hands of an average dreamer to become a doer of deeds with daring courage to achieve great feats for the continent and mankind. (Joshua 1 v 8) Unlike secular motivation books, it marries success and wealth not with personal glorification (Proverbs 13 v 11) but with the bigger agenda to transform other lives on the continent and attain cumulative prosperity that will reveal life as God intended for us Africans. (Amos 9 v 13) If you are an African willing to turn around the continent get this book and glean on the heavenly wisdom therein until the pages tear off!

Xtreme Coaching

Xtreme Coaching

I was tasked with picking up the kids after school today, an assignment I try and avoid not because I don’t like being with the children but I just never seem to get the hang of finding where they are. I always have to call my wife to ask by the way how many kids do we have and where is the missing one. I am comforted to see a few other fathers going through the same predicament. Men need help God was wise in giving us helpers.

But what I found interesting in the process today was my oldest daughters demand for me to watch her swimming lesson. I tried to escape but she insisted so I eventually agreed. Imagine this the pool area is full of kids and there are some mommies around watching and there I am standing out like a sore thumb, the only daddy sitting there with three kids. All the mommies are thinking wow what a sensitive dad coming to be with the kids. I’m thinking all the assignments are waiting for me and I am feeling awkward here. Well that part of life. When the swimming began a lesson came to me. As a successful success coach, father husband author and Pastor I suddenly noticed that the kids that were coached seemed to be more confident and skilled at swimming than those that are not.

It became very obvious which kids lived in the water because they have a swimming pool at home and those that saw the water in a cup of tea or the bathtub. I learnt a few lessons that I want to share with you. If you are to stand out in your area of specialization you will need to consider these things carefully. Need I say that the darker skinned kids were at a disadvantage because they don’t naturally take to water or any other risky habit? So what are you missing out on that could make you stand out and be a champion. To be a great swimmer buy a house with a pool and get a coach.

My kids are 4, 7 and eight and they swim very well in fact my daughter who is in grade three will be representing her school in freestyle as they compete with Rudly college on Friday. But this is because my wife was a great swimmer at school and won many trophies in her days and she has always insisted that the kids learn to swim. We do extra lesson for them all through the year and we have watched them turn from hydrophobic kids to water loving swimmers. The transformation is amazing from swimming with noodles to swimming with no helps at all.

Here are the lessons
  1. You can become good at anything you focus on
  2. To become great begin by knowing where you are and where you want to be
  3. What you invest in will give you Return on investment (Are you investing in your dream)
  4. Your daily routine with determine the skills that become natural to you
  5. The mastery of a skills requires a coach who can push you to new levels of self actualisation
  6. Having a mentor watch over you causes you to perform beyond you ordinary level
  7. Motivation brings out hidden abilities that make you larger than life so get a coach

Wow when I thought on this I was so excited I attended that swimming lesson am sure will go again soon, I might just get some more wisdom.

As a follower of my blogs I am grateful to so many of you that encouraged me to write a book. Well I did with you help now lets read the book.

My Big Brother Average

I never cease to be amazed at the number of people I meet that have settled for an average life. Average has been made to be the standard. When one succeeds in their village (or a single area of specialisation), they feel like a world champion and cease to pursue bigger dreams, as if there is an intrinsic fear inside that prohibits them from stepping out of the comfort zone of the backyard. The mother throwing the small chick out of the nest of comfort births a bird’s ability to fly. Otherwise, the chick can easily settle for an average life in the nest – fed by the mother, never to discover the purpose of the feathered tools beside his body. When the mother pushes the chick away, it may appear cruel and heartless; however, it marks the beginning of the end to average.

David had older (and bigger) brothers that had settled into an average existence in the nation as members of an average army. The brothers pretended to be brave and strong towards yet they were cowardly and timid. The Bible says the Israeli army was ‘sore afraid’ (1 Sam. 17: 24). David’s brothers had settled into the army format, and they were comfortable with fighting without ambition. On the contrary, you need to make your mark on earth before you log out. We need to feel your existence in this planet. You were born for reason. Conformity is one of humanity’s greatest scourges – we all want to conform, fit in, and be acceptable (instead of profitable). Seemingly, on entering this world, life hands us a uniform printed at the back ‘My big brother is average’. This causes us to imagine only what we have seen and experienced and we settle for a life of conformity.

David’s brothers had settled into the army format and they were comfortable with fighting without ambition

Generally, in families, big brothers set the trend of what the family does. They dictate how far we can go in life. They define the boundaries. In this instance, big brothers are the things that teach us about life and how to handle the challenges that come into our lives. They become the stewards of the current reality that we live in. They tell us what is in the big city and how life in the big city is bad. But that is their experience, that is what they saw and they expect that we will also fit into that mould. I will deal with the big brother syndrome in greater detail later in the book.
